Day 1: Travel to Dover for the Channel Crossing to France. We journey to the city of Reims, the unofficial capital of the Champagne wine-growing region. From the 11th century French kings were crowned at its Cathedral Notre-Dame de Reims, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After some time at leisure we complete the journey to Forbach. near Metz for dinner and an overnight stay at the 3-star Mercure Hotel, Forbach.
Day 2: Travel through Germany via the Black Forest to the medieval Montfort city of Feldkirch for a 4-night stay at the Hotel Weisses Kreuz.
Day 3: This morning enjoy a guided tour of historic Feldkirch which includes entrance to Schattenburg Castle Museum. Enjoy a free afternoon in Feldkirch to explore the old town. The westernmost point in Austria lies in Feldkirch on the river Rhine, at the tripoint border of Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. We return to the hotel for a warming Glühwein.
Day 4: A full scenic day in the mountainous Bregenzerwald, perfectly framed by Lake Constance and by the lush Alpine Valleys of Austria and Switzerland. Included is a visit to a traditional cheese producer, with tasting. We return via Lindau and Lake Constance.
Day 5: We travel to Chur to join the Arosa Mountain Railway for a journey through deep ravines and across a high viaduct to the Swiss village of Arosa which offers great views of snow-covered peaks. After some time at leisure we return to Chur by train and then travel back to Feldkirch in time for dinner.
Day 6: Return travel through Germany to Forbach for overnight stay at the 3-star Mercure Hotel, Forbach.
Day 7: Today we continue our journey through France to the Port of Calais and home.
