Day 1: Depart North Wales and travel to our hotel for a 4-night stay. We will stop en-route in the historic city of Cambridge where there will be some time at leisure. Cambridge is best known for its university, the 31 colleges dominate the city centre with beautiful, cobbled courts, chapels, gardens and bridges. Take the opportunity to go behind the gates of some of the colleges, visit the renowned Fitzwilliam Museum or take a punt on the picturesque River Cam.
Day 2: Norwich & Sandringham: Morning guided tour of Norwich, by coach and on foot. This afternoon, the highlight of the tour is a visit to Sandringham house, gardens and museum (usually open from Easter and closed on certain days in July: ask us for details). Built for Edward VII, Sandringham has passed through generations of royals, but the decor remains true to its Edwardian heritage. The fascinating museum is home to a number of vintage royal vehicles and commemorative china.
Day 3: The Broads & Bure Valley Steam Railway: Explore the beautiful Broads with a journey on the Bure Valley Steam Railway before transferring to Wroxham Bridge for a leisurely Broads cruise. Enjoy an afternoon beside the seaside with a trip to the coastal resort of Great Yarmouth and its 'Golden Mile' of attractions.
Day 4: Cromer & North Norfolk Railway:This morning we drive to the picturesque seaside town of Cromer, famous for its crabs. Take a walk on the pier, admire the lighthouse and relax in one of the independent coffee shops. This afternoon we take a relaxing one-way journey on the North Norfolk Railway from Sheringham to Holt.
Day 5: We depart our hotel and we make the return journey home to North Wales stopping en route in the city of Coventry, the UK City of Culture for 2021, known for the medieval Coventry Cathedral, which was left in ruins after a WWII bombing. A 20th-century replacement, with abstract stained glass, stands beside it. The collection at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum includes paintings of local heroine Lady Godiva. A statue of her, naked on horseback, is nearby.
