Day 1: Depart North Wales and travel to Gloucester, located on the River Severn, proudly positioned with the most inland port in the UK. Enjoy a few hours at leisure in this vibrant city or alternatively take an optional visit to the National Waterways Museum (admission extra). Housed in a warehouse at the heart of Gloucester’s fine Victorian docks, Gloucester Waterways Museum tells the story of our wonderful canals and rivers. We continue to our hotel in Weston-Super-Mare for a 3-night stay.
Day 2: A full day at leisure in Weston-Super-Mare to enjoy its host of fabulous attractions including the magnificent Grand Pier, completely damaged by fire in 2008 it has now been completely redeveloped. Alternatively, you can take an optional excursion to The Helicopter Museum (admission extra), the award-winning volunteer run Museum holds over 100 Rotary wing aircraft gathered from all over the world representing a wide spectrum of technologies. Visitor favourites include two of the late Queen's Royal Flight helicopters, the current world speed record holder G-LYNX (400 km per hour!), a Vietnam Veteran Huey, and a Russian Hind Gun Ship.
Day 3: After breakfast we travel to Bristol, where the day is free for shopping in the city centre. Alternatively, journey to the harbour side and enjoy optional visits to Brunel’s SS Great Britain, once the largest passenger ship in the world; Spike Island, a dynamic arts centre that supports, produces and presents contemporary art and culture and The Underfall Yard Visitor Centre, where you can explore the fascinating story of Bristol’s Floating Harbour through hands-on displays, and a giant interactive map (admissions not included).
Day 4: We say farewell to Weston-Super-Mare and travel to the world-famous Cheddar Gorge where magnificent limestone cliffs reach up to 500ft. We continue to Wookey Hole Caves, a series of limestone caverns, a show cave and tourist attraction in the village of Wookey Hole on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills (admission not included). We then journey to the wonderful Roman city of Bath, a protected World Heritage Site, there’s free time to discover some the city’s architectural wonders. Afterwards we complete the return journey home to North Wales.
