Day 2: After breakfast, we journey on the Manx Electric Railway from Douglas to the pretty town of Laxey, famous for the Great Laxey Wheel, afterwards we join the Snaefell Mountain Railway for a return journey to the summit. We’ll return to Douglas on the Manx Electric Railway, upon arrival spend some time at leisure. We highly recommend a walk up to the Manx Museum. This free to visit attraction is packed full of artefacts and treasures unique to the Isle of Man’s 10000-year history.
Day 3: This morning, we travel on the Isle of Man Steam Railway from Douglas to Port Erin. Tucked away in a sheltered bay, the village offers breathtaking scenery, and one of the Isle of Man's most beautiful beaches, with golden sand, clear waters, and a stunning backdrop of Bradda Head. Here, you can look around the Railway Museum which is located quite literally at the end of the line – on the platform at Port Erin Station.
We continue south by coach, passing Cregneash to the Sound with magnificent views of the Calf of Man. We end the day with a visit to Castletown, the ancient capital of the Isle of Man. Enjoy some time at leisure, perhaps visit the House of Keys, an interactive retelling of the island’s government.
Day 4: Our first stop today is ‘Royal’ Ramsey, before following part of the Isle of Man’s famous TT course across the island to Peel, said to be the best example of a typical Manx town. Sitting grandly at the mouth of the harbour is an attractive resort complete with castle, flat sandy beach, harbour, heritage centre and smoked kipper factory.
This afternoon we visit the Isle of Man Motor Museum and explore the amazing stories behind a collection of over 500 unique exhibits from around the world, including classic cars & motor vehicles and rarely seen private motorcycles. Situated on the former RAF Jurby in the sunny north of the Isle of Man, and opened in 2015, it has become a petrolhead’s paradise with something for everyone to enjoy!
