Itinerary

Day 1: Early morning departure from North Wales and travel to Gretna Green, the wedding capital of the UK with over 260 years of history and heritage. Visit the Famous Blacksmiths Shop Museum - 'Old Smithy' situated at the heart of Gretna Green village. After some time at leisure, we continue to our hotel in the village of Drymen for a 3-night stay.

Day 2 & 3: After Breakfast you can join the coach and spend the day at the Royal Highland Show (admission extra). At each event day attendees can expect to see the finest livestock, witness incredible feats of skill and bravery in the forestry arena, feel the heat of the hot coals at the farrier displays, enjoy countryside pursuits, view spectacular show jumping, learn about rural crafts and inspect the vast lots of farm machinery across the showground as well as enjoying a line-up of live music and entertainment to captivate the whole family. In addition, shoppers are always spoiled for choice with a huge selection of country wares on offer, ranging from pet accessories and jewellery to art and garden furniture.

Alternatively, spend the day exploring Edinburgh, Scotland’s historic capital city with its imposing castle, Royal Mile, Princes Street and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official Scottish residence of the Monarch.

Day 4: Depart our hotel after breakfast and make the return journey home to North Wales. En-route we will visit the historic market town of Penrith, located in Cumbria’s Eden Valley close to the Scottish Borders.

The Buchanan Hotel is situated in the conservation village of Drymen, in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, with a whisky bar, stylish rooms and a restaurant, there is also a leisure club.

The elegant bedrooms at Buchanan Arms Hotel each have a private bathroom with free toiletries. All rooms have a hairdryer and TV, and many have scenic views of the local countryside. The well-stocked bar offers a collection of local whiskies and fine wines, and a buffet breakfast is served daily.

The Buchanan Club features an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. There is also a modern fitness centre with squash courts and aerobics classes.
