Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday): Depart North Wales and travel to our hotel in Irvine for a 3-night stay. We will stop en-route at Gretna Green Shopping Outlet.

Day 2 (Sunday): A full day’s tour to Edinburgh, there will be ample time to explore Scotland’s historic capital city with its imposing castle, Royal Mile, Princes Street and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official Scottish residence of the Monarch. Take the option of a guided city tour by coach for £7 or to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia (admission extra).

Day 3 (Monday): This morning we travel to the popular seaside resort of Ayr. With a charming sea front, Ayr has a fantastic esplanade with a long sandy beach that is perfect for walking. Spend the day at leisure to do as you wish in this charming town.

Alternatively, join the coach for an optional excursion to the Robert Burns Museum (admission extra). The Museum offers a truly unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son. Robert Burns is Scotland’s National Bard, and his poetry and songs are known and loved the world over. The best place to get close to Burns and his genius is his birthplace in the beautiful village of Alloway. This flagship museum starts a journey that weaves through the village, taking you from historical buildings to landmarks known to Burns including the cottage where he was born, and the Brig o’ Doon, the original 15th century bridge which provided the setting for Tam o’ Shanter. Afterwards we will return to Ayr where you can enjoy some time at leisure.

Day 4 (Tuesday): We depart Scotland and journey to Gretna Green, the wedding capital of the UK with over 260 years of history and heritage. The Famous Blacksmiths Shop Museum, situated at the heart of Gretna Green village, is the world-famous, historic home of the anvil wedding and has been at the centre of runaway love, since the Marriage Act of 1754. Inside the museum, you can contemplate marriage certificates that date back to 1754, the original wedding room that has the traditional and popular anvil, old carriages, and replicas of wedding dresses (admission extra). After some time at leisure, we complete the return journey to North Wales
