Day 1: Early hours of the morning departure from North Wales and travel to Dover for the 10.40am crossing to Calais. Upon arrival, we continue to our overnight hotel, the 4-star Novotel Dijon Sud.
Day 2: Depart after breakfast and travel through France and Spain to the town of Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava, our home for the next 7 nights.
Day 3: Free day to relax and enjoy the pretty resort of Tossa de Mar, lined with cobbled streets, offering a lively atmosphere and something to suit all interests. If history is your thing, be sure to visit the Villa Vella (old town) with its ancient defensive walls and magnificent castle. Sun-seekers will want to head to the town’s main beach, Playa Gran, which boasts golden sands and crystal-clear waters.
Day 4: A visit to the Costa Brava would not be complete without a tour to the vibrant city of Barcelona. Truly one of the great tourist cities in the world, Barcelona has a huge number of attractions and could keep anyone entertained for a week let alone a day. You will have free time to enjoy in this magnificent city and to try and take in as many highlights as possible. Walk the streets of the Barri Gotic, the old town and shop on Las Ramblas, enjoy Antoni Gaudi's fantastic modernist artwork at the Parc Guell and the as yet unfinished but already iconic Sagrada Familia. Alternatively take a more leisurely approach and ride the harbour cable car for fantastic views across the city and the Mediterranean sea.
Day 5: Enjoy a late start this morning and head to the charming city of Girona. Behind the colourful houses lining the River Onyar is the Old Town, with its imposing Gothic cathedral and maze of narrow streets. Have a stroll along the pedestrian Rambla de la Libertat lined with arcades, shops and pavement cafés. Whether you are a history buff, shopper or foodie there is something for everyone in this picturesque city.
Day 6: Enjoy a free day in our lovely resort, and the town’s popular market day (Thursday) with the chance to grab a bargain.
Day 7: Today we travel to the popular resort of Blanes today, known as the gateway to the Costa Brava. Perfect for a flavour of Spain, discover beautiful beaches, traditional tapas bars, historic monuments and churches, and Jardí Botànic Marimurtra – a stunning botanical garden bursting with kaleidoscopic colours and exotic plants. Take time to enjoy a stroll along the 4km sandy beach. From here continue to another popular resort, Lloret de Mar. The busiest and liveliest resort on the Costa Brava, it’s easy to see why holidaymakers flock here. A contrasting blend of old and new, Catalan and gothic buildings share the streets with trendy bars and modern restaurants – a true cultural delight. Enjoy some free time in Lloret before returning to Tossa de Mar in time for dinner.
Day 8: Make the most of your last relaxing day in the resort making use of the hotel’s great facilities – take a dip in one of the 4 pools and enjoy a drink at one of the 4 bars!
Day 9: We depart the resort of Tossa de Mar after breakfast and make the journey back to our overnight hotel in France, the 4-star Novotel Dijon Sud.
Day 10: After breakfast we make our way to Calais for our 2.20pm return sailing to Dover. Upon arrival, we complete our journey home to North Wales.
