Buckingham Palace & London

Itinerary

Day 1: Early morning departure from North Wales and travel to London arriving in the early afternoon. The afternoon and evening are at your leisure. Why not do a spot of sightseeing in Central London or maybe explore the shops on Kensington High Street or in Notting Hill. Perhaps dine in the one of the hotel’s restaurants or alternatively there are several restaurants, bars and pubs serving food in the area.

Day 2: Enjoy a full English breakfast served in the hotel, before we make our way to Buckingham Palace for our timed entry.

Explore the lavishly furnished State Rooms of one of the world’s few remaining working royal palaces and look out for some of the Royal Collection’s greatest treasures on display.

The State Rooms are the public rooms in the Palace where The King and members of the Royal Family receive and entertain their guests on State, ceremonial and official occasions. There are 19 State Rooms, which mainly reflect the taste of George IV, who commissioned the architect John Nash to transform Buckingham House into a grand palace in 1825. The State Rooms are furnished with many of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection, including paintings by Van Dyck and Canaletto, sculpture by Canova, Sèvres porcelain, and some of the finest English and French furniture in the world.

Many of the State Rooms have particular uses today. The Throne Room is used by The King for court ceremonies and official entertaining and was the setting for the wedding photos of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The White Drawing Room, perhaps the grandest of all the State Rooms, serves as a royal reception room for The King and members of the Royal Family to gather before official occasions.

Highlights include:

  • Paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Vermeer, Poussin, Canaletto and Claude
  • Sculpture by Canova and Chantrey
  • Exquisite examples of Sèvres porcelain
  • Some of the finest English and French furniture in the world

The garden is open to walk through at the end of your visit during the summer in daylight. The Garden Café also provides beautiful views over the Palace lawns at the end of your visit.

After our visit, enjoy some time at leisure in central London before we depart for home during the afternoon.
