Steeped in history and culture, there are many attractions to discover in this picturesque town, including interesting museums, inspiring art galleries and cruises along the River Avon. Enjoy some retail therapy with a trip to the Bell Court, a vibrant courtyard filled with shops, bars and restaurants.
The town bursts with Shakespearean attractions from his birthplace to his grave which can be found in the grounds of Holy Trinity Church.
Day 3: After breakfast, we take one of the classic English tours around the villages and small market towns of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds. The area, which is centred on the Cotswold Hills, is best known for the famous Cotswold stone.
Our tour will include Moreton-in-Marsh on market day, where the high street boasts many elegant 18th-century inns and houses. We also visit Stow-on-the-Wold, perhaps the best known of the small Cotswolds towns, it is the highest of the Cotswold towns standing exposed on 800 feet high Stow Hill at a junction of seven major roads, including the Roman Fosse Way.
Another highlight is Broadway, often referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’. The pretty tree-lined High Street includes a mixture of period houses and picturesque honey-coloured Cotswold stone cottages.
